Unanswered Questions[]

  1. Elizabeth Keen
    1. Keen’s lecture to Hitchin was hypocritical considering her threat to kill Krilov and Ressler’s rogue action.
    2. Keen has no incentive to cooperate with Gale, she is more likely to undertake a rogue action.
      1. A: Keen also suspects Gale of having an ulterior motive in wanting the files involving Red.
  2. Raymond Reddington
    1. How many languages does Red speak?
    2. Red referenced the “The Blacklist (Comic)” arc, “The Arsonist“.
    3. Why did Red need to see Werner von Hauser in person?
      1. A: To settle the matter regarding Hans. He knew either Werner would hunt him down or that Red would be forced to kill him, but was hoping to talk it out and avoid either scenario.
    4. Why did Red have only 1 contact in Europe?
      1. A: The others have abandoned him.
    5. Why does Red need the task force for protection?
      1. A: He doesn't “need” them for protection, but they are a necessary shield to protect himself from law enforcement since the FBI are secretly working with him.
  3. Bogdan Ivanovich Krilov
    1. Why does the FBI need Krilov to exonerate Ressler? They have his equipment.
      1. A: Krilov's confession in how he injected Ressler with propofol and sent him to kill Hitchin was needed to exonerate Ressler.
    2. Was Krilov telling the truth about Keen’s memory operation of 2 years ago?
      1. A: Reddington promised to never lie to Liz and so far he hasn't. As such, Krilov is most likely lying.
    3. Will Krilov surrender his other clients?
      1. A: Perhaps, if it gets what he wants.
  4. Laurel Hitchin
    1. How would Hitchin’s death have destroyed the task force?
      1. A: Ressler would have killed the National Security Adviser in cold blood, which would remove him from the task force. Also, Laurel's is Red's link to the Cabal.
    2. Was the ambassador part of the Cabal?
      1. A: While possible, it's highly unlikely since the Ambassador is Korean (judging by his pin) and the Cabal are all American operatives with the goal of reigniting a Cold War with Russia.
      2. A: It's likely. Red showed that on a map early on in Season 2 that while they took down most of the Cabal in America, there are Cabal operatives all around the globe. With their plan of igniting a second cold war with Russia exposed, their threat to Reddington has fallen to the wayside for now.
  5. Samar Navabi
    1. Why did Samar think that Keen was “pink and perfect”?
      1. A: She was being facetious.
    2. Was Samar's plan to take the letter without a warrant?
      1. A: It seemed to be that way.
  6. Donald Ressler
    1. Even if Ressler is exonerated, his obsession with and threatening of Hitchin has undermined his career. Hitchin can use Krilov’s actions to declare Ressler mentally unstable.
  7. Kathryn Nemec
    1. Why did Nemec choose Ressler for her target?
      1. A: Ressler's need to investigate further into Reven Wright's disappearance is something that Nemec could use to her advantage. In having him kill Hitchin who is Red's only link to the Cabal, she could further damage Red's criminal empire.
  8. Julian Gale
    1. Gale’s investigation will be slowed as Ressler’s arrest will undermine Gale’s credibility.
      1. A: Unlikely. While it's true that Ressler and Gale worked together in the past, they work in completely different fields and investigations now for some time now. Gale's credibility would take a dent a best but Ressler's credibility as a whole would be a lot more severe.
    2. Gale’s insistence on seeing the SCI7 files can easily result in his suspension.
      1. A: Julian is a special agent, so he may be able to call in some favors to see the files without much risk to his career. If if he was suspended, his pursuit for Reddington would have been worth it in his eyes if it meant finally taking him down.
    3. What reason was given for the shutdown of the Reddington task force?
      1. A: In “Mr. Kaplan”, Resseler revealed that Gale had found enough evidence to ensure an investigation which would lead to the shutdown of the Task Force.
    4. How has Red’s help solved hundreds of cases?
      1. A: The Blacklisters are high-profile criminals; some who were uncaught for years and continued their crimes. When they were caught, it accumulated in solving many cases, both active and cold.
  9. Winthrop Grand Hotel
    1. What will the clerk do with Keen’s rent check?
      1. A: Unknown. He could discard it (cashing it would be illegal and easily traceable) or he could report it to their superiors.
    2. Will the clerk complain to the FBI?
      1. A: Very likely, but by then they would have the information from the letter.
  10. Werner Von Hauser
    1. How will Nikolaus convince the other syndicate members of his escape?
      1. A: It seemed he was planning to take over the business.

Trivia[]

  • Victims identified
  • “SCI7” doesn't correspond to any normal classification scheme. “SCI” generally refers to Sensitive Compartmented Information, which adds a separate access control to files, in addition to their classification, based on compartments identified by keywords. It is possible that “SCI SEVEN” was meant, where “SEVEN” would refer to the compartment.
    • The reference to the task force's classified status is one of rare references. In “Tom KeenThomas Connolly said that Richard Denner accessed classified information without the necessary clearance.
