Harry Lennix III is an American actor, known for roles such as Dresser Williams in The Five Heartbeats and Boyd Langton in Dollhouse. He currently plays Assistant Director of Counter-terrorism Harold Cooper on NBC's The Blacklist.

Early Life

Lennix was born on November 16, 1964, in Chicago, Illinois. He's the son of laundress Lillian C. Lennix and machinists Harold Lennix Jr. He attended Quigley Preparatory Seminary South and Northwestern University, where he majored in both acting and direction.

In his senior year at Northwestern, Lennix was the coordinator of For Members Only, an African-American student organization. He spent several years teaching music and civics within the Chicago public school system. He is known to be a frequent lecturer.

Career

In 2002, Lennix starred as Rev. Adam Clayton Powell Jr. In the made-for-cable film Keep the Faith. He has held many supporting roles in films such as The Five Heartbeats, The Matrix series, State of Play, Get on the Bus and many more.

He has appeared in TV series such as House, ER, Commander in Chief and 24.
