Unanswered Questions[]

  1. Cabal
    1. Who is the agent that Jasper spoke of?
      1. A: Possibly the same agent that Zhang talked about when Keen and Samar confronted him.
    2. Why is Peter Kotsiopulos advancing the 2017 timetable?
      1. A: It was out of desperation. As long Red has the Fulcrum, he will continue to be a threat to the Cabal.
    3. Is Mitchum alive?
  2. Kenneth Jasper
    1. Why did Jasper get the Corinthians quote wrong?
      1. A: Like most things in the bible, translation matters. From the King James version, this is the correct quote: “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” In other, more modern versions, this translation is changed from “transformed” to “disguised” or “masquerading as”.
    2. Why did Jasper resurface? He should have known that Red was responsible for destroying the yacht.
      1. A: Reddington faking the man's death made his company's stock price plummet and forced him to publicly reveal to the world that he was alive and well before the company stock was completely worthless.
      2. Q: Jasper knew that Red was hunting him. Why did he need to keep his financial investments intact?
      3. A: Since his primary motivation and passion was money, he probably felt that it was worth the risk.
    3. Why did the yacht explosion result in the implosion of Jasper's stock investments?
      1. A: It made it appear that Jasper had died in the explosion, thus leading to instability in his investments.
    4. What will happen now that Jasper has disappeared again? Red can not allow him to resurface.
      1. A: In Karakurt, it's revealed that Red is holding Jasper hostage in one of his safe houses.
    5. Is Jasper dead?
      1. A: Probably not, but judging by the loss of his tongue, Jasper won't be talking again anytime soon.
    6. Why did Red believe that Jasper knew the details of the operation? Was it a decoy dialogue?
      1. A: Red knew Jasper had information on the Cabal and why Peter Kotsiopulos is advancing the 2017 attack sooner.
      2. A: Red also knew that because Jasper rebuffed his previous offer to topple Peter Kotsiopulos that this was a sign that Jasper was likely a very close confidante of Peter Kotsiopulos and would likely be knowledgeable about the operational details.
  3. Elizabeth Keen and Tom Keen
    1. Why is Keen relying on Tom for support? The previous anger has vanished.
      1. A: Time has passed since the initial wound, so the pain that Tom caused her is not as fresh. In addition, Red told her that Tom was hired to only be a friend of a friend and not her husband, but Tom fell in love with Keen inadvertently. Tom started working for Berlin so that he could be with her. Thus, Keen has realized that Tom genuinely did love her, and in this distressing circumstance, she feels like she has no one else that she can emotionally rely on.
    2. Why did they use the name “Berlin” instead of Milos Kirchoff?
      1. A: Because that is the name they both initially knew him by.
  4. Elizabeth Keen
    1. How did Keen know about the Bill Kershaw alias?
      1. A: She read through a book account and discovered that Bill Kershaw was one of Red's many aliases.
    2. Why did Keen believe that Peter Kotsiopulos would return to the “Détente”?
    3. Why did Keen not know of Red’s fearsome reputation in the black market?
      1. A: Because his reputation is such that no one dares talk to the FBI.
      2. Q: They should have heard rumors from low-level criminals such as: “The last person who tried to inform on Reddington was found burned alive”. The mere lack of information from the black market should lead to somebody in the FBI saying: “The black market is refusing to talk about Reddington. Either he is a myth similiar to Keyser Söze from “The Usual Suspects” or Reddington is enforcing an “informants perish” policy.” A person is not placed on the FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list without having a reputation to reinforce/support the criminal accusations against them.
      3. A: Reddington was on the list for treason.
    4. Why did Red refuse to reveal her family history other than her KGB parents?
      1. A: Elizabeth's past is too terrible to explain. Maybe Red felt terrible in not being able to save her family from being attacked. He revealed to Elizabeth that she was born in Russia and her real name.
  5. Tom Keen
    1. Why is Tom still in the United States?
      1. A: Tom may have his own reasons to stay even though he wants to leave with Elizabeth and start a new life in his own boat.
    2. Why has Tom not gotten the tattoos removed? The “Deutschland für die Deutschen” (“Germany for the Germans”) and Schutzstaffel (SS) bolts are no longer needed.
      1. A: They could be temporary tattoos done with an ink that will fade after a period of time.
  6. Raymond Reddington
    1. Why does Red have a fearsome reputation in the black market?
  7. Harold Cooper
    1. Why did Cooper object to releasing the file? Connolly listed his other felonies and wanted Cooper to release a forged/altered file.
      1. A: Cooper became aware that Connolly was using their friendship as a means for leverage and refused to cooperate.
    2. Why did Cooper not ask Reven Wright for aid?
      1. A: His position with Wright is already on shaky ground.
    3. What will happen to Cooper’s relationship with Charlene?
      1. A: It will be strenghtened, he knows she acted out of love.
    4. How did Charlene get access to a classified file?
      1. A: Connolly paid her to gain access to leak the information to the media.
      2. Q: Why does Charlene have access to classified FBI information?
      3. A: She does not. Connolly gave her the infromation.
    5. Is Cooper still a viable candidate for FBI director? While his resistance is a liability, his shaky legal/political position is a reliable method of control.
      1. A: In “Tom Connolly”, Cooper isn't a viable candidate for the FBI director. He is lead away by FBI agents to be charged for perjury, and aiding and abetting. The role of task force commander fell on Donald Ressler.
  8. Samar Navabi
    1. Did Red or Samar decide to use the deception tactic? Samar’s training in enhanced interrogation techniques mirrors Meera Malik‘s preference for them.
      1. A: Deception tactic on Samar's part to get Jasper to trust her with the belief she is working with the Cabal to take Red down. Her loyalty is still with Red.
      2. Q: Red could have created the plan, it was similar to the plan in “Madeline Pratt”.
      3. A: Red trusted Samar enough to know what she's doing.
  9. Quon Zhang
    1. Will Zhang arrange for a plea bargain by revealing his customers?
    2. Will the Chinese government actually investigate the smuggling operation? While they would want to stop belief in a superstition, they also have to consider Chinese religious beliefs. The smugglers based in China have the option of bribing the government.
  10. Chaoxiang Han
    1. Why did Jin Han commit suicide after being left by An Bai?
      1. A: The Hans blamed Jin's suicide on her abandoning him and were determined to make An Bai his bride regardless.
      2. Q: Being left at the altar is not something that requires suicide.
      3. A: In some Eastern cultures, being left at the altar is one of the most serious insults that can be given to a person and their family. The only way to avenge the insult is by the death of the jilting partner.
    2. Why did An Bai leave?
      1. A: An Bai left Jin at the altar and emigrated to the U.S. to care for her father.
      2. Q: She could have asked the Hans for aid.
